Other Places of Interest
Petaluma Yacht Club
If you're interested in taking a cruise on the Petaluma river check out the Petaluma Yacht Club's schedule.
The Olive Press, Sonoma Wine Country (~30 minutes)
Bodega, Sonoma Coast (~38 minutes)
There is an endless list of things to do in Bodega. Of course, the restraurants have extremely fresh seafood and there's an candy store on the main highway that has tasty taffy. You can also find several little stores that sell kites and other beach toys along the road. Horseback riding at Bodega dunes is a must! There are beautiful beaches in the area. Doran beach is the most popular and has picnic tables, barbecues and bathrooms. Bodega Head is very beautiful with its sheer cliffs and wide open views. There are trails here that are wonderful for running or hiking. If you keep driving on Coast Highway One you'll eventually pass the Salmon Creek Ranger Station and beyond that there are several gorgeous beaches that are less populated and very peaceful.
The Tides Inn Restaurant, Bodega Bay
This is a very nice restaurant located only a few steps from Doran Beach.
Horseback riding on the beach
Chanclor Ranch
Point Reyes National Seashore, Marin Coast (~30 minutes)
If you want to go to a beach to "get away from it all", Point Reyes is the place. It is secluded and full of wildlife. There are plenty of trails for hiking or horseback riding. On a clear day the ocean sparkles like turqoise glitter when viewed from the clifftop vistas.
